New Website To Find NHS Dentists On The Wight

New Website Helps You Find NHS Dentist On The WightWe all know how difficult it can be to find an NHS Dentist on the Island, so this new Web site being launched by the Hampshire & IOW Dental Helpline should be welcomed by many.

The new site was launched yesterday and offers a range of useful information in one, easy-to-use place including:

* dental practices currently accepting dentists in your area
* contact details for the Hampshire Dental Helpline and Emergency Dental Helpline
* information on NHS dental charges and what you should be paying
* frequently asked questions about NHS dental treatments
* feedback forms to give your views on the Hampshire Dental Helpline
* advice on improving dental health, good tooth brushing tips, etc.

Kerry Gregory, Dental Helpline Manager for Southampton City Primary Care Trust (PCT), which hosts the service, said:

“The newly launched Hampshire & IOW Dental Helpline website is very easy to use and I hope that residents in Hampshire & IOW who need to find an NHS dentist will go online for the latest information on practices which are currently accepting patients.

“While on the Hampshire & IOW Dental Helpline site, there is useful and important information on how much you should be paying for your dental care and how to look after you teeth and gums.

“The Hampshire Dental Helpline can understandably become very busy during certain times of the day and the new website is therefore perfect for those who want to get instant advice on practices accepting NHS patients and general oral health advice.”

The Hampshire Dental Helpline – which is also available by calling 0845 050 8345 – provides a service to the whole of Hampshire and is available from 8.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The Helpline can provide you with advice on dentists accepting patients for NHS care and also make urgent appointments for people in pain who do not have a dentist.

As an NHS patient your dentist will:

* carry out a thorough examination of your mouth, teeth and gums
* explain your treatment options and advise you what can be provided on the NHS or privately
* make sure you know how much your NHS and/or private treatment will cost
* provide you with a written plan, including costs, if you are receiving treatment discuss with you how often you need to attend – if you have good oral health it’s unlikely you will need a check up every six months
* provide you with a leaflet containing information about the practice and the services available.

The Emergency Dental Service – also on 0845 050 8345 – operates from Monday to Friday between 5.30pm and 9.30pm offering advice, and on Saturdays and Sundays between 8.00am and 9.30pm offering help, advice and emergency treatment if you need it.

Check out the site for yourselves and do let us know if you find it helpful.
