Report a Pothole With Fix My Street

Thanks to VB friend and contributor, Wendy Varley, for this great reminder about how to report pot holes. Ed

Report a Pothole With Fix My StreetAnyone driving around the Isle of Wight over the last week will have noticed that as the ice has receded some wheel-busting new potholes have popped up pretty much overnight.

Not only that, but with the meltwater making them look like innocent puddles, they’re very hard to spot.

As VB reader Adam mentioned on VentnorBlog last week in a comment responding to roads information, there is somewhere to go to report them.

A site highly recommended by VentnorBlog to report pot holes is Fix My Street.

The site is easy to use and also tracks the performance of the responses to reported problems.

VB have used it themselves and say that they always get a fast response from the Highways team after reporting a problem.

Interestingly, there has been a rise in the number of potholes reported over the last week, so why not follow suit and do the same. Unless the Council know where the problems are, they won’t be able to fix them.

Facebook group
Over the weekend, a new Facebook group has been created by Islanders unhappy with the state of the Island roads.

Isle of Wight Poor Road Conditions which now boasts 321 members, has been created to provide a platform for discussion relating to the road conditions of the Island.

Admins of the group are inviting Islanders to share their stories and report roads in poor condition.
