Brading Development Spurs Formation of Residents’ Action Group (BRAG)

There’s growing unrest in some quarters of Brading about a number of things residents feel are being foisted on the town.

Brading WaworksFollowing a meeting held last Sunday which was attended by well-over seventy people, a new group, the Brading Residents’ Action Group (BRAG) has been formed to work together to bring a united voice to their concerns.

They got in touch with VentnorBlog to tell us about the depth of their unhappiness, asking if we can help spread the word for them.

Proposed development a trigger
It appears to have been triggered by the public consultation day back in December organised by Brading Town Council and Robert Ball, owner of the Brading Experience, to explain the proposed development of the Brading Experience site to Brading residents.

Residents tell us that they’re increasingly concerned about the tourism future of Brading, what they say is the Town Council’s apparent enthusiastic involvement in the proposed development prior to consulting local residents and the impact on the town of a large scale redevelopment of the site.

Brading’s Town Trust, which has also been in existence for over a hundred years, has quite a number of the town’s assets under its control. BRAG are concerned about the Town Council’s apparent desire to gain control of these assets.

Brading Town Council meeting this Thursday
BRAG are very keen for those who have concerns about the future of Brading to attend the next scheduled council meeting at Brading Town Hall on Thursday 28 January at 7pm.

VentnorBlog will be there reporting.
