South Wight Chronicle 1,000th Edition

Twenty years of weekly publishing has got them to reach their 1,000th edition

Congratulations to the South Wight Chronicle which this week has published its 1,000th edition.

The photo on the cover is Philip Clarke, who has told The Chronicle that he’s kept every single copy!

Page eight has a summary compiled by Fay Hewitt Brown of the news stories from the first ten editions of The Chronicle, starting February 1991.

Reading through them gives the clear impression that not much has changed in Ventnor, with public concerns being pretty much what they continue to be today.

The stand-out unusual item for us was “Eight of the candidates for the Council election declared themselves as Green. The headline was ‘Green Invasion.'”
