‘Stop The Cuts’ Public Meeting Next Wednesday

With the full council meeting, when councillors will vote on the largest spending cuts in a generation, a mere seven six weeks away, those opposing the proposals are working hard behind the scenes.

'Stop The Cuts' Public Meeting Next WednesdayAs has been mentioned previously on VB, next week sees a public meeting for those concerned about the imminent budget cuts being made by the Isle of Wight council.

The meeting is being hosted by Unison at the Riverside Centre in Newport.

Bringing groups together
With Mike Starke chairing, the aim is to bring together all Island community and voluntary groups, service user groups, single-issue campaign groups (eg Save our Libraries, Save the Ventnor Botanic Garden), trade unionists, and all ordinary (and extraordinary), concerned people into one cohesive campaign group to Stop the Cuts on the Isle of Wight.

Organisers are appealing to everyone who cares about public services to speak up against the cuts. Cuts to the Island’s libraries, social care services, leisure services, tourism services, careers guidance, local Wightbus services and more.

The meeting takes place from 7pm at Riverside Centre in Newport on Wednesday 12th January.
