Police Appeal After Motorcyclist Dies Following Collision

Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision in which a 45-year-old Cowes man died.

The crash happened on the B3041 Calbourne Road at Calbourne Crossroads at 5.10pm yesterday and involved a blue Suzuki motorcycle and a silver Citroen C3.

Collision at crossroads
The motorcyclist was approaching the crossroads as he travelled from Freshwater towards Newport when he was in collision with the Citroen, driven by a 72-year-old East Cowes woman.

The motorcyclist was taken to St Mary’s Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The driver of the C3 was also taken to St Mary’s with suspected spinal injuries.

The road was closed until midnight while collision investigators examined the scene.
