The Isle of Wight was treated to some amazing lightning shows last weekend.
We were sat glued to the window on Friday night watching the amazing light show out at sea on the South coast of the Island.
VB reader, John Burns, had his camera to hand and managed to capture some excellent shots, firstly of the crazy cloud formations that preceded the thunder and lightning, and then of the lightning striking.
We’re sure you’ll agree that they really give a taste of what the Island experienced on Friday evening (minus the downpour)

Fantastic video!! Although looking at the stills, if i were living in the house to the right of the white building, i would seriously consider moving!!!! Lightning never strikes twice…. hmmmm not sure anymore!

If you mean the last two photos, aren’t they the same shot (the lightning is exactly the same in each) but in one the photo has been lightened?

Hey all, thank you for the positive comments!
The straight-ish bolt is the same one, just at different periods of the stroke and the lightning itself is still quite off set in the distance, roughly 4km’s.
It was a spectacular show for all.
