Savoy Hotel Fire: Police Say No Evidence Of Foul Play

Many people have raised questions over the cause of the fire on Sunday 11 December at the long-neglected Savoy Hotel building in Sandown.

Police can confirm an investigation by Isle of Wight CID into a fire at a building on Avenue Road in Sandown has been completed.

“Arson cannot be ruled out completely”
Although arson cannot be ruled out completely, there is no evidence at this time to suggest that the cause of the fire was linked to a crime or any foul play.

Detectives would like to thank the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service and members of the community for all their co-operation and understanding.
