Two More Charged In Church Arson And Theft Investigation

Two more charged in the Carisbrooke church suspected arson and theft case.

St Mary's ChurchPolice can confirm two more people were charged this week after an investigation into reports of arson and theft at a church on the Isle of Wight.

Officers were called to St Mary’s the Virgin Church in Carisbrooke near Newport at 5.30pm on Sunday, November 27, 2011.

A 28 year old man from Newport, was charged with handling stolen goods, namely a crucifix belonging to the church.

A 15-year-old boy from Newport was charged with the theft of a cross from the church.

They were both bailed to appear at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court on January 17, 2012.
