Committee Agrees Joint Director of Environment Role With Southampton

This morning the Employment Committee met in the council chamber to debate and vote on the proposal to share the services of the Isle of Wight council’s Director of Environment with Southampton City Council.

County HallThe members of the committee voted unanimously in favour of the six-month trial that will see Stuart Love working three days a week in his current role with the IWC, as well as providing expertise and advice to Southampton City Council for two days a week.

Still employed by Isle of Wight council
It was confirmed that he would remain employed by the IWC with Southampton CC remunerating IWC for his time.If Southampton also agree to the proposal (they’re meeting tomorrow to discuss it) a sub-committee will be held in February to take the proposal further.

Voting on the committee were Cllrs Pugh, Mazillius, Humber Humby, Cousins and Hutchinson.
