If you’re keen to support local producers and care about the origin of your food then Country and Farmer’s Markets are well worth checking out.

Ventnor Country Market
Producers for Ventnor’s Country Market return tomorrow after a well-earned break from baking. From Thursday, 24 January, the market will be opening its doors at 9.30am each week, selling all its regular range along with new products and specials for Valentine’s Day next month.

There will be a return of the popular artisan breads, free range eggs (some weeks duck and goose eggs are also on sale), soups and savouries, cakes and biscuits, jams, preserves and pickles. The market also sells crafts and cards plus a seasonal selection of plants and cut flowers.

Full details of where and when can be found in the listings on Events On The Wight.

Isle of Wight Farmers’ Markets
If you can’t get to Ventnor for the Country Market, you may want to try the Farmers’ Market in Newport on Friday mornings.

Taking place each week throughout the year between 9am – 2pm in St Thomas’ Square, organisers say that Farmers’ Markets are those who care about the origin of the food they eat.

If you want to purchase quality produce that has been grown, reared, caught, brewed, pickled, baked or otherwise processed by the local stallholder, then this is where to head.

Full details in Events On The Wight.

Saturday mornings in Ryde
For those who live or work in Ryde, the Farmers’ Market takes place each Saturday morning outside Co-op in the town square from 8.30am-12.30pm.

The Ryde one is our local one and we have always supported it. The Bread alone is worth the extra pennies! To die for!
