Thanks to Rachel for this reminder of what a great line-up they have for tonight’s Acoustic Originals. Free entry and a superb way to start your week. Ed

We invite you to join us for our signature combination of original music and home comforts (well, Quay Arts Cafe Bar comforts) and a superb line-up that sets the New Year bar rather high!

Sam Sheasby
A singer/songwriter from the Isle of Wight influenced by the likes of Tom Petty and John Mayer, Sam is very passionate about lyrics, describing himself as a ‘Heart-writer’.

He has been gigging frequently in various venues performing solo with his acoustic guitar and exceptional vocals and is looking forward to the opportunity to air new material for the Acoustic Originals crowd.

Maybe Tuesday
Hester Chambers, of Island Folk-trio Blackhouse Crow, writes beautiful, other-worldly tales which she tells to her captivated listeners with her disarmingly ethereal voice.

Her lyrics are a poetry of insight and belie the innocence of youth.

Damien Paul
One of those extremely hard-working musicians who gigs his way round the local circuit whilst surreptitiously creating and recording his original work behind the scenes.

Broadly blues-based – he runs the much loved Black Cat Blues Club – and influenced by Muddy Waters, Tom Waits and Johnny Cash, to name a few, Damien will be treating us to a taster of his new album ‘Mostly True’, recorded at the Island’s very own Skinny Mammoth studios.

Sam Green
Visiting our fair Isle from Devon with double-bass playing Joe James for company, Sam performs live shows that naturally blend foot-stompin’, harmonica wailin’, guitar-pickin’ Roots music with heart-on-sleeve Folk.

The energetic performance and charismatic delivery of well crafted, conversational songs endears them to people wherever they go. Living the traditions of the old Mississippi Delta in a Citroen Berlingo.

“This ridiculously good lap-steel player evokes the likes of John Fahey, whilst rolling out his own contemporary Folk songs of freewheeling wisdom” The Canteen Bristol – March 2012

Duveaux
This self-confessed crazy Island 5-piece performs with a style all of their own – and they’ve been rehearsing an acoustic set for us!

Frontman, Dan Duveaux, says, ‘There are many rumours as to how the band formed but it appears that the most plausible story is that the individual band members awoke one fine day in early September 2012 after experiencing a vision that visited them in their sleep and simply knew what they had to do.

The rest is history and what hasn’t yet happened will also become additional history… once it happens, that is.’ A magnetic mix of talent, humour, charm and showmanship.

“This band was just full of individuality and charisma.” Three for a Girl

Doors and bar open from 7pm and performances begin from 8pm. Your very own festival oasis in the middle of January – and it’s FREE to get in!
