Find out how you can get involved in the ACDT Nets for Life Appeal

£3 buys a large mosquito net that will protect two to three children. If Nikki reaches her target we could help save 6,000 lives in Uganda.

Nikki Collinson

Yesterday, Islander Nikki Collinson, who is founder of Africa Children’s Development Trust (ACDT), launched the ACDT Nets for Life Appeal.

Nikki has been doing some brilliant work in Uganda to help improve the lives of children and their families. She tells us, “Since 2008 I have distributed nearly 6,000 mosquito nets to children across Uganda. I will be distributing another 1,000 nets this summer.”

In support of World Malaria Day – which takes place on Thursday 25th April – Nikki would like to add another 1,000 nets to her target. As you can see from the video below, filmed back in 2008, the mosquito nets are pretty big and can protect at least two to three children.

Nets could save 6,000 lives
Nikki says that by distributing 2,000 nets, it could potentially save up to 6,000 lives.

The nets cost just £3 each and Nikki will need to raise £3,000 in the next month in order to make this happen.

How you can help
Over the next month in the build up to World Malaria Day she would love for you, your school, your group, your club to join her in holding small fundraising events to help save so many lives.

She is happy to come and talk to your group or school about Malaria and how it affects children in Uganda in advance of your event.

Perhaps you could hold a cake sale, or shave your head? Could you school hold a Mufti Day? ANYTHING to help save some lives.

Donate now
If you would like to donate to the appeal directly, you can text a payment using your mobile phone.

If you are able to please text NETS77 £3 to 70070.
