Quality live music at Acoustic Originals

Plastic Mermaids running down a hill

Thanks to Rachel for reminding us of Monday’s Acoustic Originals. Always a great event. Ed

Before we head out into the summer (with Kashmir Café at the Isle of Wight Festival and Acoustic Originals at Ryde Arts Festival and Ventnor Fringe, phew!), we’ll be doing our thing in the Quay Arts Café Bar on Monday 20 May in our last show of the season!

Join us for a night of original music from an eclectic line-up of performers presenting their musical creations just for you

Guy Page
With a catalogue of original songs and several EPs released with his trio, Guy’s ambient-indie soundscapes are most familiar to us performed with trademark melodic guitar and snare drums sitting snuggly alongside the meaningful lyrics.

As an intriguing departure, for Acoustic Originals we’re being treated to a solo performance of GPT songs.

Babushka Baba Yaga
Rhian Teasdale is a compelling presence. With a smile that never seems to fade, her quirky vocals and self-accompanied piano make for a striking performance that stays with you.

Think Kate Bush meets Florence Welch and Bjork and all their DNA is collected and combined to form a new, blue-haired baby – that’s Babushka Baba Yaga.

Plastic Mermaids
Plastic Mermaids have spent most of the last year hidden away in their home studio constructing a unique style of folkedelic dream pop, escaping only for the occasional surf.

Weaving together vocal harmonies and a diverse selection of instruments they create folky melodies with experimental electronic textures. Furthermore, they wear amazing jumpers.

Jude Davison
Hot on the heels of the release of his latest album, Head Bone Gumbo, Jude will be treating us to a selection of songs from his last three albums, joined on stage by a host accomplished musicians.

We’ll be opening our doors and bar at 7pm with performances starting at 8pm. It’s absolutely free to get in and everyone is welcome.
