Thanks given for successful events at Ventnor Library

Mary Rose event:

This message in from Tess at Ventnor Library. Ed

A few thanks to all those who worked to make last month’s events at the Library so successful!

Music
Thanks to Adam for organising Shhh… It’s a Library Music Tour. Although it was a nasty night those who came, really enjoyed three different musicians and groups who will be invited back again! Good to know that there is such young talent out there and that they love performing in Libraries!

Mary Rose Trust
Thanks to Evelyn for arranging the visit from the Mary Rose Trust in the afternoon and evening. What a coup to have Trevor from the Trust on the very day of the opening of the new museum in Portsmouth. T

he costume, tales and artefacts were fascinating and we had a really interesting day. He has promised to come back!

Writers
We also had R C Bridgestock, the local husband and wife crime writing team, whose newest book was published in March.

“Bob” was a senior police officer in West Yorkshire and his wife Carol writes from the perspective of the family behind the man. Fascinating stuff!

Bookstart week
So the next thing is Bookstart week for the little ones, and then in July the main children’s event of the year – the Summer Reading Challenge.

This year we hope to have storytellers, workshops and a Ghost Tour! Watch this space.
