We feel very safe taking-the-micky out of Christ the King. Christians are very tolerant and forgiving, but try doing about “The Prophet”(peace be upon him) and see what happens.

I’ve never understood that argument, lardi. I’m not sure whether you are saying you would like to see Christians crack down on anyone “taking the mickey”; or whether you think that being “very tolerant and forgiving” is a good thing, so you don’t want the crack down. You can’t have it both ways.

I think there is something about not worshipping graven images, so I don’t imagine I’m being rude about a deity when I joke about part of a wooden statue in a photo.

I feel a little uneasy at the proximity of a potentially upsetting situation regarding the arrested person, when some of us are joking around. But we haven’t been referring to that at all, it’s been kept separate.

In such a small debate about the arrest of a middle aged man in a School for abusing a position of trust, it’s a little difficult to see how the joke about the School Crest can be seen to be separate from the alleged offence, don’t you agree? With the benefit of hindsight, I think the comments would have been better omitted.

I think it’s debatable, (as we see), PW. There is a small reference to an arrest and an unspecified offence. In the absence of any further substance, some of us have turned our attention to something else – a photo.

So Sally, is it now acceptable to publish such bad taste flippant comments about a middle aged man arrested in a School for abusing a position of trust?

Well, Me E G, that may be your interpretation of the College’s School crest that depicts the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ our lord, but it certainly is not mine.

Me E G, you think the Police went to the School and arrested him for abusing a position of trust for stealing a pencil case form a student?

Well, well, Bystander has progressed from a paranoia about Mason’s to belittling the son of God all in a few weeks. I guess there really is no end to to the depths that some mouthpieces will go. Having stumbled across the same pseudonym on Twitter and seen the same bigoted ramblings on many topics. Even sadder is that contributors on here seem fit to award kudos to such crass comments

I would not want to comment on the facts of the man being arrested for “abusing a position of trust” because I do not know the facts and he may be innocent. Anyway when I suggested a link between Church education and a characteristic form of unnatural vice (which the General Synod of the Church of England recently fessed up to)I was surprised to get the OTW Inquisition.
Surprised – & fearful, and had to sit in a comfy chair.

Is this the same Son of God who told everyone in the Sermon on the Mount to be meek and peacemakers who cursed and killed an innocent fig tree because it was out of season for fruit then proceeded to assault money changers in the Temple without so much as an excuse me? Should the Son of God be having temper tantrums?

I think you are being optimistic to imagine that similar incidents will not re-occur.

I see in the CP that the man has gone free, and no action is being taken by the Police.
