Vacancy created by Stuart Love’s departure considered in Root and Branch review

Following the news published this morning that Stuart Love will be leaving the Isle of Wight council to take up a Director role with Southampton City Council, the IW council have confirmed that no departure date has yet been agreed.

Managing director Dave Burbage said,

“Stuart has made a significant and highly-valued contribution to the council over the past seven years, bringing vision, drive and great professionalism to the many services under the economy and environment brief.

“He has strategically led services in a period of major change and economic constraint, and I am confident over the coming years Island residents will continue to see the real benefits of his important contribution. Most notably this includes areas such as the highways PFI project, the improvements to waste collection and recycling services on the Island, and a wide range of projects to help revive the Island’s economy.”

Council leader, Councillor Ian Stephens, added,

“We have been very fortunate to have benefited from the skills and expertise of Stuart over what has often been a difficult period for the council. His involvement will be a great loss to both the council and the Island, but naturally we wish him every success in his future post with Southampton City Council.”

Root and Branch Review
The council also confirm that the vacancy created by Mr Love’s departure will now be considered as part of the council’s overall Root and Branch Review of services.

They say interim arrangements will be put in place to ensure management arrangements for staff continue without any effect on services.
