Possible solution for Yarmouth Surgery

Yarmouth surgery

Patients of the West Wight Medical Practice have been written to by Drs Thomson, Walker and Magee following a recent meeting with the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group.

The meeting followed news that the Yarmouth surgery would be closing indefinitely due to staff shortages.

In the correspondence, patients have been informed that the Practice has decided to withdraw their notice to terminate the NHS England contract.

Support from CCG and Lighthouse Medical Ltd
During a meeting with the Isle of Wight Clinical Commissioning Group and an all-Island group of GPs (Lighthouse Medical Ltd) held on Thursday 13th March, it was confirmed that sufficient support could be offered for partners to feel confident of achieving an Island solution to the current situation.

The correspondence goes on to say,

“Over the next few months the practice will rely on a group of well qualified GPs, some acting as locums, others from several island practices, to support the partners, so your forbearance will be greatly appreciated as you may not always be able to see the doctor of choice.”

No date for reopening
The doctors say they recognise the “significant concern reference Yarmouth surgery” but add they, “cannot presently give a date for re-opening there but will communicate via notices and website as soon as is practical.”
