Ryde Harriers: Nearly the end of winter season

Thanks to Tom for this week’s report from the Ryde Harriers. Ed

There is still winter business to attend to and the most recent club night saw the final five mile nominated run of this season’s series.

This week’s winner, closest to his nominated time, was Ken Beak. Ken was only 17 seconds out from his prediction of 40 minutes exactly. Second place went to Julie King who was 22 seconds away from her prediction, she finished in a time of 35.59.

Fastest runner on the night was super-vet Pete Young, running a rare club night session and giving a clean pair of heals to the rest of the field with a strong finish. Fastest woman on the night was new women’s club captain Sarah Kavanagh who crossed the line in a time of 35.42.

Upcoming club night runs include the Alan Reed Memorial Trophy 5 mile nominated race on Tuesday April 15th, the Easter Egg Run April 22nd and the annual club 10 km championship April 29th. Also in April Ryde Harriers organise the Easter race series consisting of the Newport to Ryde Race 3pm Easter Saturday and the West Wight Three Hills race on Easter Monday.
