Plans for a single wind turbine in Wootton revealed

Mosscliff Environmental, a renewal energy systems company based on Suffolk have made public their plan to build a wind turbine at Palmers Farm, between Wootton Bridge and East Cowes.

The turbine would have a hub height of 24.6m and a maximum height to the tip of the turning blade of 34.2m.

The developers say,

“Palmers Farm is an ideal location for producing energy from wind without having a major impact on the surrounding area. We expect the turbine to produce around 168442kWh per year. In total, that’s enough to power over 50 average British homes – every year.”

We expect the reference to Maldon rather than the Isle of Wight may’ve been a cut and paste error, but assume the intention is the same,

“The turbines will help Maldon to achieve its carbon reduction targets and improve the security of your local energy supply.”

Have your say
Prior to formally submitting plans to the Isle of Wight Council, the company are keen to hear from residents.
