Isle of Wight from 38,000ft by Paul Thorn

Amazing photo of the Isle of Wight – taken at 38,000ft!

Paul Thorn was piloting an Airbus 320 for EasyJet, flying en route from Alicante to Manchester at around 11:40am – The same day TV personality Gary Lineker chose to come to the Island too.

As Auto Pilot was engaged, Paul was able to capture this amazing photo of the Island on his iPhone, showing it in all of its glory – cloud-free bar a couple of tiny balls of cotton wool floating around.

There’s a full screen version for you to have a look at below. It shows great detail, such as another plane (blue) flying over the Island heading North, which Paul tell OnTheWight is a Thomson Boeing 737 flying at 36,000ft.

For those who are aviation fans, Paul tells us that the A320 had Sharklets – the ‘up ticks’ on the end of wings, designed to increase fuel efficiency (more detail).

Many thanks to Alex McMahon for bring Paul’s photo to our attention.
