Money:

Find out how to gain funding for your business

This in from Andrew Turner’s office, in their own words. Ed

The Island’s MP Andrew Turner, working with the Island Business Forum, has organised a meeting to help local businesses find out what opportunities are in place to access Government funding and support.

The recently announced Southampton and Portsmouth City Deal is designed to benefit both cities and the wider Solent area, creating thousands of new jobs.

Solent LEP funding stream
There are also a number of funding streams administered by the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), the locally-owned partnership between businesses and local authorities which plays a key role in determining local economic priorities and is responsible for driving economic growth and the creation of local jobs.

Where and when
The meeting will take place on 6th May at 11.30 in the Riverside Centre, Newport. All Island businesses are welcome to attend.

Mr Turner said:

“I know many Island businesses, particularly the smaller ones, feel they don’t know enough about the support available from the Government. I wanted to organise a meeting, open to all, to help get that information across. We are planning presentations about how the Island can benefit from the City Deal and other funding streams which Island businesses could tap into.”

Island Business Forum
The Island Business Forum which was formed in February this year by Ryde Councillor and Mayor, Wayne Whittle, working with Andrew Turner has changed the date of their next meeting; it will now coincide with this presentation on business funding.

The Forum’s chairman, Ian Jenkins, said:

“If you have been wondering whether the new Island Business Forum is for you – now is the time to find out. We are working with Andrew to help Island businesses – and we think this will be a very useful session. There is no charge at all to be involved in the forum, and part of our strength is that the existing business organisations are also involved. We look forward to seeing lots of Island businessmen and women on 6th May.”
