Good job sign:

Global Rock glory for Ryde Academy students

Thanks to Kat Millmore, Dance Teacher and Rock Challenge Lead Teacher for this report. Ed

Another fantastic result for our Global Rock team! We came second in the Southern Premier finals!

In addition we won Awards of Excellence for:

  • Lighting
  • Performance Skill
  • Costuming Character
  • Stage Use
  • Concept
  • Set Design and Function
  • Choreography
  • Visual Enhancement
  • Drama
  • Entertainment

We are thrilled with this year’s result! The team were fabulous all day and the support they gave to each other in preparation for the evening performance was heart-warming.

“Committed, engaging performance”
I have never seen such a committed, engaging performance from our students – so proud.

Our students were excellent ambassadors for the Academy and were keen to congratulate Oak Academy (First Place) and Sandown Bay (Fifth Place) students.

Valued key members
We are sad to be saying goodbye to two key members of our committee who are leaving the Academy at the end of Year 13. Sian McCullough and Tessa Attrill have been part of the student committee since Ryde changed to an Academy in 2011.

Since their time in charge we have been placed third Nationally, won the Southern Premier Finals (2013) and placed second this year. They are incredibly talented and the whole team will miss them immensely.

92 students involved
92 students made up the team this year, including Set Crew, Lighting Operators and the Hair and Make-up Team. They range from Year 7 through to Year 13. A large group of parents were there to support us at the Guildhall, including our Chair of Governors, Lesley Holmes.

The whole team are looking forward to starting next years piece and we are setting our sights on qualifying for the National Finals next Summer!
