Tarmac:

Problems with asphalt plant will affect roadworks

Island Roads have issued a notice that due to problems with the ‘tarmac plant’ the road closure at Whitcombe Road, Newport from Froglands Lane to Sandy Lane will not be in operation today (Thursday) as previously advertised.

They go on to say it’s hoped the ‘tarmac plant’ will be working for the proposed nightworks tonight at Carisbrooke Road, Newport and St Boniface Road, Ventnor.

Merstone Lane will be still closed from 6.30am until 6pm today between Main Road (Rookley) and Bury Lane, as they say tarmac is not required.

The diversion route will be Main Road (Rookley), Blackwater Hollow, Blackwater Shute and Sandown Road and Merstone Lane.

For full details of proposed roadworks see our weekly and daily notices.
