Fund set up for 8 year old boy who risked his life to save another

We all remember the tragic story of the eight year old boy who last month got into difficulties on Appley Beach after trying to rescue a young girl in trouble in the water.

He, in turn, had to be rescued and then resuscitated on the beach. He was airlifted to Southampton Hospital where he remained in a critical condition for some time.

A community minded Islander has now set up an online donations page to help raise money for the young boy, Ty.

Gennive Woolston said,

“As I’m sure you’re all aware, a very brave eight year old boy risked his life to save a little girl in the sea off Appley Beach on 21st June.

“Unfortunately this little hero got into difficulty and was left in a critical condition.

“Four weeks on and this lovely boy is no longer critical, but has a long journey of recovery.

“We have set up a fund to make this journey a little easier for his family and would love if you all could share, and if you have a few pennies to spare that would be amazing!”

Messages of best wishes have been left by many on the fundraising pages.
