Michael plans 300ft abseil down the Spinnaker Tower for Ryde Inshore Rescue

It’s great to see so many Islanders doing their bit to Ryde Inshore Rescue following the recent vandalism. Ed

Hello, my name is Michael Smith. I work as a Door Supervisor and run my own Business.

On Saturday 23rd August at 4pm, I will be abseiling 300 feet down Spinnaker Tower, Portsmouth to raise money for Ryde Inshore Rescue: an Independent, 100% voluntary Lifeboat station based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight.

They are on call to HMCG 365 days a year, and operate two inshore lifeboats from their headquarters at Appley. No matter what the emergency they will be there helping to keep you and your family safe.

Despite to popular belief, Ryde Insure Rescue are not part of the RNLI and do not receive funding from them or the government. They survive solely on donations from the public and fund raising events such as this.

Please dig deep and donate now
All the money I raise from scaling down Spinnaker Tower will be spent in keeping their craft and auxiliary equipment in tip top condition – ready to assist those in peril at sea.

Head over to my JustGiving page to show your support.
