Brown Bread - children's portrait:

Isle of Wight Film Festival: Brown Bread: The Story of An Adoptive Family

The third entry in the OnTheWight sponsored feature film section of the Isle of Wight Film Festival due to be screened next week is this documentary directed by Sarah Gross, titled Brown Bread: The Story of An Adoptive Family.

In the hills of Northern California, an unusual family gathers for their reunion. As they join hands around the table, their colourful mix of races looks like the American dream of integration.

Black, white, middle class, ghetto: adoption gave the same last name to six children from very different backgrounds. But what does it mean to integrate race and class into one family? A personal documentary about the filmmaker’s own transracial adoptive family.

All screenings during the Isle of Wight Film Festival are just £5 per person.

See the film at the Sacred Cinema (Victoria Street, Ventnor – opp Spar) on Friday 15th August at 5pm.
