Coppins Bridge punch-up caught on video

Police confirm they are investigating a fight involving several young men that took place on Coppins Bridge yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.

One driver’s dashboard video captured the moment when two cars stopped at Coppins Bridge and several young men bundled out of two cars and starting punching and kicking each other.

A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary told OnTheWight,

“It was reported at 6.22pm last night (August 26). A group of youths fighting on the flyover at Newport near The Bargeman’s Rest pub.

“Police did attend but the group had dispersed on arrival. No arrests made at this time.”

Police are appealing for information, anyone who witnessed the incident or may know who is responsible should contact PC Quelch at Newport police station on 101.

Gaz Sharman, a friend of the driver with the dashboard video, uploaded the video – titled Coppins Bridge Free For All – to YouTube (see below) yesterday.
