Bestival disco ball

Want to know why Guinness World Records judges are heading to Bestival?

This in from Bestival HQ, in their own words. Ed

The Bestival clock is ticking and with less than a week to go until our Desert Island Disco is go, we’ve got some amazing disco ball challenge news that will make our 24-hour escapist paradise at Robin Hill from 4-7 September the only place to be.

Disco ball creator Rob da Bank says:

“Can you believe it! We’ve only gone and cracked it – we’ve built a beauty and we’re certain this disco ball is a record breaker. So certain, in fact, that we’ve invited the nice people from Guinness World Records to come and confirm it. Don’t miss out on an historic part of Bestival lore and join us next weekend to see if we really are record breakers!”

Busting the record
The current record for the Largest Disco Ball is 9.98 metres and this is our official record attempt to beat that, aiming for over 10 metres; the measuring tape dudes from Guinness World Records will be there to authenticate it on the day so, if you want to witness some record breaking madness, get yourselves to our Desert Island Disco and admire its glittering charms.

Official Guinness World Records Adjudicator Mark McKinley said,

“I’m looking forward to coming down to Bestival to see the Largest Disco Ball – there’s a lot of hype that this is the biggest in the world, but I’ll be the judge of that when I see and measure it for myself!

“Good luck to the organisers on their record breaking challenge.”
