50p piece:

Have your say at public meeting on proposed foot passenger fares for Cowes Floating Bridge

East Cowes and Cowes Town Councils have jointly organised a public meeting to discuss proposed charges for foot passengers on the Floating Bridge at Cowes.

The meeting will be held at East Cowes Town Hall on Thursday 11th September, starting at 7pm.

Members of the public are invited to attend to share their views and opinions on the Isle of Wight council’s proposed introduction of a 50p each way fare.

‘Flawed’ calculations
As reported in July, two councillors from the area have made claims that the calculations produced by officers at the Isle of Wight council for potential income are flawed.

The Isle of Wight council are considering the introduction of 50p each way foot passenger fares for adults (not under 18s) as part of their programme to fill a multi-million pound budget gap.
