Council offer online service for young people with special educational needs and disability

This in from the council, in their own words. Ed

The ‘local offer’ has been developed in partnership with parents and health commissioners and aims to provide clear, comprehensive and accessible information in one place on the support and opportunities available locally to children, young people and their families.

It also details what can be expected from a range of local agencies including education, health and social care, providing links to the organisations and partner agencies.

Councillor Richard Priest, Executive member for children’s services, said:

“It is very important parents and carers have easy access to lots of information when they need it.

“The new local offer is designed to be a very useful resource covering a range of services and advice. It has also been developed and written with health commissioners and, importantly, parents and carers which means they are able to pass on their personal experiences and knowledge of caring for a young person with special education needs and disabilities.”

The local offer is live now and can be access at www.iwight.com/localoffer. More content will continue to be added over the coming months.
