Floating Bridge protesters on Bridge by Allan Marsh

Great photos and timelapse video of Cowes Floating Bridge protest

Around 250 Islanders – residents and business owners – gathered in East Cowes tonight to show their opposition to the Isle of Wight council proposal to introduce 50p each way foot passenger fares for over 18s on the Floating Bridge.

The council say the introduction of the fare is needed to put money aside for a new bridge that will be needed in 25-30 years time (as a new one with a 25 year lifespan will soon be funded a government grant – in the water by March 2016 according to council leader Ian Stephens).

Our thanks to Allan Marsh for these photographs and brilliant timelapse video from the event.
