Impact of NHS industrial action minimised on IW say Trust

In light of the national day of action in the health service, patients are encouraged to attend their appointments unless they are advised directly otherwise.

Alan Sheward, Executive Director of Nursing and Workforce at Isle of Wight NHS Trust said:

“The industrial action in the public sector is about national pay arrangements for NHS staff. Here on the Island we work closely with staff and their representatives. Both the Trust and staff representatives want to minimise the impact any industrial action has on the quality of care for patients.

“We do not anticipate the need to cancel any appointments or operations at this time. Arrangements are being put in place to ensure that essential services are maintained across the organisation.

“If for any reason we have to cancel a patients appointment we will contact them direct.”
