Find out how you can help those who might die as a result of living in a cold home

Thanks to Simon for this news of an upcoming charity event. Ed

Can you imagine if you couldn’t afford to heat even one room in your home?

The Office of National Statistics estimates over 31,000 people died nationally due to winter conditions last year, in their ‘excess winter deaths’ calculations.

On the Isle of Wight it is estimated that 100 people die each year as a result of living in a cold home.

The Jack Frost Appeal
The Isle of Wight based Jack Frost Appeal raises funds for vulnerable people on the Island and provides Winter Warmth Packages comprising a safe and portable fan heater (if required) AND the cost of running the heater on medium heat for 12 hours a day over the winter months.

We receive referrals from statutory and voluntary agencies who work with vulnerable individuals and families of all ages. Over the ten years of the appeal, we have provided over 75 households with at least one constantly warm room.

Your support can make a difference
Please come and join us for a night of chat and music and help us raise funds for this excellent charity.

You genuinely will be helping to save lives on the Island this winter. The fundraising supper includes a ‘hearty’ stew with a glass of bubbly.

The entertainment for the night is the Island’s own Irish band ‘Last Orders’.

Raffle prizes needed
If any Island business wishes to support the event through sponsorship or by providing an item for the raffle we would be very grateful.
