Live music to return to the Crab and Lobster

The Crab and Lobster pub in Ventnor (the oldest inn on the Isle of Wight) will soon be able to entertain their customers with live music once again.

A licence review was sparked by complaints from two residents, both upset about the impact of noise from live music as well as customers smoking outside or leaving the pub.

When the licence came up for review, there was a ground-swell of support from the Crab and Lobster’s customers. 25 residents contacted the council to express their support for live music at the pub, many of them nearby residents.

New licence approved
The council’s health protection officer had said the pub’s licence was ‘not fit or purpose’ and recommended several conditions be applied. Members of the Licensing Sub Committee considered the application and applied eight conditions to the licence at the hearing on Monday.

The pub’s owners posted a message to their Facebook profile earlier in the week thanking their customers for ongoing support.

Full details of the information presented to the committee can be found in the paper below. Click on the full screen image to see larger version.
