Don’t miss Grinchmas in Ventnorville this Saturday

Yes folks, this Saturday (13th) Ventnor will be THE place to be if you’re on the Isle of Wight.

There are masses of things taking place across Ventnor, from down on the seafront up to the centre of town. There’s even stuff going on at the Winter Gardens.

Getting into the Christmas spirit
Walking around Ventnor today it was fantastic to see that so many businesses have got into the spirit of Grinchmas in Ventnorville.

Over 700m of Christmas bunting has been handmade by volunteers and can be seen fluttering above the shoppers in Pier Street and the High Street, awaiting the fun-packed Saturday that will be bursting with activities, as well as entertainment and great Christmas shopping opportunities.

The Grinch
Don’t miss The Grinch himself. Bets are being placed on who’ll be inside the costume on the day. Feel free to question The Grinch to see if you can guess who they are.

There’ll also be a Costume Competition for the rest of us, the Costume Parade, the Santa Dash along Ventnor Beach, the twinkling lights of the Lantern Parade, as well as the annual Carol Service in Ventnor Park.

Don’t miss the brilliant Hentai Babies playing in the window of Church Street Motorcycles at 3.30pm.

What else is on offer
There’s a Christmas Grotto with Father Christmas and his Elves (natch), a Christmas Food Market, Christmas Arts and Crafts Market at the Winter Gardens, Window Competition for all retailers, Face Painting, Photo Booth with the Grinch as well as Hunger Hot Spots – food outlets to offer Christmas Themed refreshments – Hot Chocolate, Roasted Chestnuts and Apple Strudel.

Not only all that, but also, as you’d expected for Ventnor, live music from bands in various locations.

Tip o’ the hat
Well done to Ventnor’s active business association who have been co-ordinating the day, bringing together as many local community groups and retailers as possible and they’re hoping that everyone will muck in to make Ventnorville as bright and welcoming as possible.

The wide range of activities and attractions have been planned with help from Ventnor Enhancement Fund; Ventnor Carnival; Rotary and Inner Wheel of Ventnor; Isle of Arts; Ventnor Fringe; The New Carnival Company & St Catherine’s Church, as well as St Francis School and other local groups.

Well done to you all, we can’t wait!
