Appley WI Christmas Wreath

Appley Women’s Institute enjoy festive meeting

Our thanks to Judith for this report from Appley WI. Ed

The Appley WI Birthday Lunch at the Isle of Wight College was most enjoyable and the students were commended for their cooking and waiting at table – which seemed a daunting prospect for a few of them, but they coped very well. John’s Club provided sixteen members with transport there and back very comfortably.

The annual cup and gift vouchers for the monthly Competition were presented to the winner, Pam Fenna and runner-up, Viv Culley; the monthly Best Bloom was a tie between Pam Fenna and Joy Wade. December’s Best Bloom was provided by Sally Hope and the Cherished Christmas Card was a wonderfully poignant card owned by Maggie Coles.

The amazing Randini!
Once the business had concluded, Randinimembers began making Christmas wreaths, music paper Christmas trees and clove pomanders to the music of carols.

They were also entertained by the magician and punster, Randini. His table magic was amazing and his final illusion was much enjoyed, as were the nibbles and mulled wine.

Members wished each other a ‘Happy Christmas!’ as they left taking their craft item to decorate their homes.
