Robert Thompson leaving The George (updated)

Less than a year in his role as head chef at The George, news reaches OnTheWight that Robert Thompson has left his role at the hotel in Yarmouth.

Staff were informed this week of the departure and we understand a replacement chef has already been put in place. OnTheWight called The George who confirmed Robert had left.

Update 21.1.15 10.16am:
OnTheWight spoke with Robert this morning and he confirmed that although he was no longer working in the kitchen, he was still on the payroll of The George and helping Dianne out and finishing off duties. He’ll be leaving in early February.

He’s not able to comment on future plans at the moment.

Just a few weeks after announcing Robert’s move to The George last year, a new owner was revealed.

Dianne Thompson (no relation), the former Group Chief Executive of Camelot, took ownership of the hotel in late March 2014. Dianne was awarded a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire after being named in the New Year Honours list on 30th December.

Other changes in the team
Earlier today, another of Robert’s team, Simon Ulph, tweeted about leaving The George.

We’ve been in touch with Robert and are waiting to hear back as to where he’s moving onto. We’ll let you know once we hear.
