Finalised 2014 GCSE results released

There have been some minor changes in the provisional results at school level OnTheWight reported on earlier this month.

Cowes Enterprise College still tops the table with 58% of pupils achieving 5+ A*-C GCSEs including English and maths.

They are followed by Christ the King College at 55%, Medina College at 48%, Ryde Academy with 47%, Sandown Bay Academy with 42% and Carisbrooke College at 29%.

In the private sector, Ryde School scored 82% and Priory School 45%.

2014 GCSE results on the Isle of Wight

Sixth lowest in England
Pupils on the Isle of Wight achieving 5+ A*-C GCSEs including English and mathematics was 45.2%.

That’s the sixth lowest in England (average 53.4%) and the lowest in the South East.

At 45.2%, the figures are lower than the original provisional results had indicated (47%), taking them back to pre-2010 levels.

Other GCSEs
For pupils achieving 5+ A*-C grades the figure was higher at 56.3%. This is eighth lowest in England (average 63.8%).

Things improve a little when ‘Any GCSE passes’ are included, with the Isle of Wight – 97% – rising to 17th in England (average 97.7%), above Portsmouth (96.%), which is tenth.

It’s worth noting that across the UK GCSE results are down.
