Rugby: Ventnor RFC team stocks stock at friendly match

Thanks to Nolan for this latest report from Ventnor RFC. Ed

A Chairman’s XV was selected to face the rest of Ventnor. It was a good opportunity for new club coach Damien Marriot to take stock of developing players and players returning from injury.

It also gave the opportunity for young colt, Lachen Downer, and German exchange student, Konrad Steinberg, to show the seniors what they are made of.

Dan Williams still struggling with a recurring back injury stepped in to referee the event.

It was clear from the kick-off that the Ventnor side was stronger and they dominated the scrums and line outs through out the game.

The Chairman’s XV took the fight back to them and it was a arm wrestle throughout with Joe Pettifer crashing over in the last minute of the match to seal the game in favour of the Chairman’s side 37-34.
