Letter: Why do Southern Housing Group keep locking me out of my garage?

I’m a Southern Housing Group (SHG) Resident (Tenant) and I rent a garage at Arreton for my son’s car and some tools etc.

Last year we found the garage padlock had been cut off and a different lock attached so couldn’t get the car out. I went through hell and so much stress, which badly affects my health, but eventually we got it sorted with a minimal costs payment.

“One-off mix-up”
I was assured this was a one-off mix-up over the number of the garage and after they got the door fixed asked if I wanted to keep the same garage or did I want the one next to it which they thought I was renting. I said as long as this isn’t going to happen again we prefer to keep this one, but I must have new a License with the new number on and you must update your files.

I was assured all had been done. I had asked several times for the official paperwork to be updated and a new License sent to me to sign (so I could be sure everything was in order and the garage could not be violated again), but I’ve never had that paperwork.

Padlock removed again!
The car was needed for some work to be done yesterday, but when my son went to collect it, he found the garage had been entered, the padlock removed and a different one put on so he couldn’t get in.

I am so stressed I fear it may kill me this time, as we don’t know if the car is safe or if anything has been stolen. I have my brother in St Mary’s on MAAU, so stress levels are high already.

Total incompetence
I cant believe the total incompetence over this and I was told by SGH Complaints department at mainland HQ that they’d raised an Urgent Call for the Local SHG to call me yesterday at around 2-30pm.

An email saying it was being looked into arrived late this morning.

I just hope I survive this.
