Seven men arrested over alleged serious sexual offences (updated)

Update: 1st March 9.53am: Police have advised the media that despite speculation on a blog site (elsewhere) Kent Police is not involved in this investigation.

We can confirm officers from Hampshire Constabulary arrested a further seven men on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 over an alleged conspiracy to commit serious sexual offences on the Isle of Wight.

These arrests are linked to recent information reported by a female victim who is a member of the public. The information relates to incidents alleged to have taken place during 2014.

None of the seven men arrested on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday (February 24, 2015) are serving police officers or police staff.

All seven were questioned in police custody and later bailed until various dates in May 2015.

The separate six men arrested on Thursday, December 11, 2014 in relation to these allegations of conspiracy to commit serious sexual offences on the Isle of Wight also remain on police bail until various dates in May 2015 pending further enquiries.

Three of these six men are serving police officers. They remain suspended from duty while the criminal investigation continues.
