Police are appealing for information about a public order incident at a pub in Bembridge on Monday evening.

Sometime between 7.20pm and 8pm (March 16), a female member of staff was put in fear of violence by a man she was trying to eject following abusive language towards other customers.

The 20-year-old woman felt threatened and was pushed by the offender but otherwise uninjured.

Suspect arrested
A 58-year-old man from Ryde was arrested on suspicion of assault and using threatening or abusive or insulting words or behaviour. He was bailed until April 1 pending further police enquiries.

PC Samantha Barry said:

“This was an isolated incident in this usually peaceful village pub. I am appealing for witnesses to the offender’s demeanour, both before and during this incident, to come forward.”
