Cricket: Pre-season friendlies continue

Thanks to Graeme for this latest report from Ventnor Cricket Club. Ed

In a useful work out for both first teams, the New Forest side won a close contest by one wicket, having been set 183 by the home team for whom Marc-Antony Eysele struck an excellent 72 and Neil Westhorpe 33.

Pick of the Ventnor bowlers were Toby Corbin whose pacey opening spell brought him 3-24, and Hugh Calloway who took 3-28.

Highlight of the game, though, was a stunning square leg catch by Westhorpe to dismiss Hampshire’s Lewis McManus.

On Sunday, Ventnor’s third team defeated Arreton by eight wickets at Steephill.
Kieron Hope, Ben Attrill, Harry Ridley and Bruno Lambert each took two wickets to bowl out the visitors for 109, a total comfortably passed thanks to James Attrill who made a fluent 56.
