Emergency services assist kayaker with spinal injury

Thanks to George from this latest news from Cowes RNLI. Ed

An emergency call that a 19 year old man had suffered a spinal injury while kayaking lead to Cowes RNLI lifeboat being launched yesterday (Thursday) afternoon.

The accident occurred in the River Medina off the UK Sailing Centre, where the young man was a student.

The lifeboat launched at 3.50 pm and when it arrived on the scene the crew found that the man was by then on the UKSA slipway, being attended to by paramedics from an ambulance.

Satisfied that no help was required from the crew, the lifeboat then returned to station.
