Daniel Roberts - Rename TTIP at a lock cropped

‘Rename TTIP’ journey across the country starts in East Cowes (video)

On Friday morning last week, Daniel Roberts and his co-pilot Bill set off in a tiny boat from East Cowes to start their Rename TTIP journey (what’s this?).

OnTheWight provided live coverage, via Periscope, of an interview with Daniel and the launch of the craft, with the first Periscope video had a total of 171 live viewers. Periscope is great for that ‘at the moment’ coverage, but as it is only available for 24 hours after filming, we shot another video with Daniel.

Having made it across the Solent, and driven up to Bristol with the boat on top of the car, the campaign now sees Dan and Bill sail along canals and rivers from Bristol to Westminster, hopefully in time for the General Election on 7th May.

Interview with Dan
Watch the interview below to see Dan explaining the purpose of his journey in his small boat and what they hope to achieve.

What is Rename TTIP?
You may have heard people talking about T-TIP and wondered what the heck they were going on about.

The Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) is a series of trade negotiations being carried out, mostly away from the public gaze, between the EU and US. Dan is very concerned about the impact TTIP will have on our everyday lives and is keen to draw people’s attention to it.

Renaming TTIP
As ‘Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership’ is quite a mouthful, Dan has decided to raise awareness by trying to find a new name for it that will resonate more with the general public.

On their journey from Bristol to London, Dan and Bill will be stopping off along the way, not only spreading the word about TTIP, but also asking the general public to make suggestions of what they would rename it to.
