Wight Salads sold to Cheshire-based company

Cheshire-based APS Group has acquired Wight Salads Ltd (WSL) from Vitacress in a deal that creates a business with a projected £100m annual turnover.

The deal will see APS become the largest grower and supplier of British tomatoes.

The Group already produces tomatoes across a whopping 42 acres in Cheshire and Kent. The purchase of Wight Salads adds another 66 acres across five sites on the Isle of Wight

Mark Pearson, group managing director of APS, said,

“The acquisition of WSL is a fantastic opportunity for APS. It allows us to create a British business of real scale, which is good for jobs and good for the industry.

“We can now focus on long-term stability and growth, and work with our advisers and business partners to provide further investment and infrastructural improvements.”
