Police called to ‘scuffles’ at pub and find woman unconscious on pavement

Police confirm they were called to “a possible assault and scuffles” going on at the Painters Arms, Cross Street, Cowes on Sunday, 17 May at around 12.40am.

When they arrived a 25-year-old Ryde woman appeared to be unconscious on the ground and there were around 20 people stood nearby some in an agitated state.

Apparently, friends were with the woman. She was treated by ambulance staff for her injuries, which were mainly swelling and bruising to her face.

Investigation underway
Police are now trying to establish exactly what happened to her and plan to speak to witnesses and review CCTV.

There have been no arrests at this stage and the crowd were dispersed.
