Hear about the Nomadic Tribes of Iran and Afghanistan

The Vectis Decorative & Fine Arts Society present their next lecture of the season.

Searching for the woven art and symbolism of the Nomads, Brian Macdonald has travelled in the region since the 1970s and will bring some artefacts which will be displayed at the lecture

Brian W. MacDonald has established himself as a well known and highly respected rug dealer and author in the UK. His passion for woven tribal art began in 1972 when he worked on two archaeological expeditions in Iran. He spent a year living with two tribal groups – the Afshar of Kerman and the Qashqa’i of Fars.

He travelled extensively in Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey, enriching his knowledge of their tribes and woven crafts.
