Bees pollinating:

If you spot a colony of bees swarming call the IW Beekeepers Ass.

As this is the time of year when bees start to swarm to find a new home, we thought this reminder from the Isle of Wight Beekeepers Association might be of help.

If you have unwanted honey bees, either in a swarm that has just arrived, or a colony of bees that swarmed earlier and has now taken up residence somewhere on your property, you can contact the Isle of Wight Beekeepers Association swarm collectors.

They are:

Terry Willis 405788 or 07909 644 307
Dave Cassell 407674 or 07919 244 080
Bob Bromley 531891 or 07752 262 668

The landlines are linked to mobiles and you should be able to reach someone at any time.

Viable swarms will be taken away to the teaching apiary, checked for health and passed on to new beekeepers looking for their first colony.
